FIRST YEAR
First Term (Oxford Michaelmas Term)
Oxford/Warwick Annual Workshop (Induction week)
Induction week followed by four two-week assessed modules:
  • Module 1: Computational Statistics & Statistical Computing
  • Module 2: Applied Statistics
  • Module 3: Probability and Approximation
  • Module 4: Network Analysis
1st APTS week - Cambridge - 11-15 December 2017
Second Term (Oxford Hilary Term)
Four two-week assessed modules:
  • Module 5: Time Series and Stochastic processes
  • Module 6: Bayesian Inference
  • Module 7: Stochastic Simulation
  • Module 8: Machine Learning
2nd APTS week - Nottingham - 16-20 April 2018
Third Term (Oxford Trinity Term)
First mini-project
3rd APTS week - Southampton - 9-13 July 2018
Advisor interviews (progress and monitoring)
CUDA course (programming a GPU)
Second mini-project
4th APTS week - Glasgow - 20-24 August 2018
Off-site retreat
                      
SECOND YEAR

Your supervisor will be assigned by the start of the academic year                                               
Monitoring via termly progress reports                                                              
Amazon study trip in Berlin                                                                                
18 months: first major academic milestone (transfer to PhD/DPhil)         

THIRD YEAR
International research placement in overseas university research centre (subject to progress)
Monitoring via termly progress reports                                                                 
36 months: second major academic milestone (draft thesis accepted)

FOURTH YEAR
Monitoring via termly progress reports                                                            
You must have completed your research and submitted your thesis by the end of the fourth year

ALL YEARS
Transferable skills training
Public engagement
Annual workshop
Industrial internships are possible in any year including first year mini-projects (subject to progress)
